George A. Wright Memorial Award
Mr. Willkomm a member of Tifton Police Department was awarded the 2006 George A. Wright Memorial Award. The George A. Wright Memorial Award is presented to individuals who exhibits high standards and dedication to their community, church, family and career. Mr. Willkomm a retired Marine Colonel has served our country with honor and continues to serve our community, Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, Tifton Police Department and North East Tifton Home Owners Association. Officers and staff members of Tifton Police Department find it an honor to work with and have him and his wife Elaine as part of our family.

Former Tifton Police Officers Receives Award

Mayor Paul Johnson reads Proclamation to Former Tifton Police Officer Robert Collins
Tifton Police Department and Tifton City Council honored a former Tifton Police officer Robert Collins who was shot in the line of duty 30 years ago. Collins was given a certificate and medal for being wounded in combat action while the Mayor Paul Johnson read a proclamation honoring him on behalf of the council. Capt. Willie Walker was awarded with a meritorious service medal for his actions in helping Collins get medical attention on the day of the shooting.

Target Awards $1,000 Grant for Crime Prevention
The Tifton Target Regional Distribution Center today announced it has donated a $1,000 to the Tifton Police Department. The grant was presented to Major Terry Ziegler and Lt. Steve Hyman as part of an ongoing effort of Target's strong commitment to our community and making our community a safe place to live and wok.
